The 2026 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival opened on April 23 with Rod Stewart, Stevie Nicks, Lorde, David Byrne, and 596 other acts. Eighty-five percent of them are from Louisiana. Nobody at the festival asked why that ratio does not exist anywhere else in the state's cultural funding.
